This route planner, funded by the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), is a joint effort by Florida International University GIS Center and University of Florida Geomatics Program at Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center. It is designed as a planning tool for bicyclists. Assistance was received from the Broward County Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee and various cyclists and transportation professionals.
It is the purpose of this route planning tool to provide users with a selection of possible routes that may fit their needs and skill level. The routes proposed should not be considered a recommendation that one route is safer than another. A user of this planner should consider these routes a starting point for route planning. The routes are determined by using computer algorithms based on a variety of features that affect bicycling and an individual’s choice in routes. The safety of a bicyclist is based on their own skills and abilities.
The Broward MPO, the organizations and individuals involved in the development of this map assume no liability for the personal safety of individuals using this route planner. The persons and organizations involved in the development of this map in no way warrant the safety of the roadways or facilities on this map for use of bicyclists. All of the roadways shown are used by automobiles and trucks. Bicyclists assume the risks of their own safety when using the roadways and/or bicycle facilities indicated on this map.
